Q: What is an American Welding Society Accredited Test Facility?
A: A program establishes minimum requirements for test facilities, their personnel and equipment to qualify for accreditation to test and qualify welders.

Q: What is your American Welding Society Accredited Test Facility ID #?
A: Long Island Welding School - 191005. Please see our licensing page for more info.

Q: What is an AWS Certified Welding Educator (CWI)?
A: American Welding Society specially trains individuals on the AWS Curriculum. It is VERY important to ensure your instructor at any welding school is a Certified Welding Educator.

Q: Do I need to pay for extra for materials?
A: NO WAY! Your costs include all steel material, wire, gas etc. We only ask you buy or bring in your own welding helmet, leather welding jacket, leather welding gloves & work boots - since these items need to be specially fitted to you! We can recommend a location to buy these items once you sign up.

Q: How much is testing?
A: Testing costs are determined by the specific test you are taking. Please contact us for pricing. This is a separate cost from your course price.

Q: Can I just take a AWS Qualification Test at your facility?
A: YES! If you are EXPERIENCED & ready for testing, you can take any test at our facility.

Q: What if I need some practice before my AWS Qualification Test?
A: We offer booth rentals! Rent one of our booths and practice on your own. Contact us for scheduling and pricing.

Q: Will I ONLY receive a "certificate of completion" from your facility if I take the certification test?
A: NO! If you pass an AWS Qualification Test, you will receive your CERTIFICATION LICENSE from AWS in the mail within 6-8 weeks of your test. This can be used on any job site throughout the world; your name and credentials will be in the AWS NATIONAL REGISTRY.

Q: Are your teachers certified?
A: ABSOLUTELY! Our instructor is an AWS Certified Welding Educator & Inspector (CWI). We also have a 2nd AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) on staff who administers our tests. Please see our licensing page for more info.

Q: Can you help with job placement?
A: YES! From time to time we have companies contacting our school looking to hire our welders. We pass this information off to our students to let them proceed with contacting the company. We cannot guarantee we can place you in a job, but we can help!

Q: Do you offer financing?
A. No. We will accept personal financing which you can obtain from your bank.

Q: Do you offer payment plans?
A: No, courses need to be paid in full on your start date. Test fees need to be paid in full on your test date.

Q: Are the test fees refundable?
A: NO! The test fees are payable whether you pass or fail, that is why we make sure you are 100% ready to take the test beforehand.

Q: How do I get started?
A: You can come to our facility and sign up in person or call us and sign up over the phone.

Q: Why can't I wear contact lenses at your school?
A: If you require contact lenses, please wear your glasses during class time. Even with a welding helmet on, the plastic of the contact lenses can fuse to the eye. It is extremely painful and can cause permanent eye damage.

Q: Is Long Island Welding School affiliated with any other facility or company?
A: NO! We only have 1 location, which is located at 59 Urban Avenue, Westbury, NY 11590
